In agriculture, a powerful motor vehicle,
commonly having large rear wheels or
caterpillar tracks, used for pulling farm
machinery and loads. It is usually powered by
a diesel engine and has a power-takeoff
mechanism for driving machinery, and a
hydraulic lift for raising and lowering
implements. In military usage, a combat
tractor usually has two drivers (one
forwards, one backwards), and can excavate 2
tonnes in a single action, so as, for
example, to hide a Chieftain tank in 11
minutes. It can also cross rivers, operate in
nuclear radiation, and clear minefields.
